Japan Successfully Prosecutes Overseas Anime Piracy Site for First Time

For the first time in history, Japan has led in the successful prosecution of an overseas anime piracy site, bringing the operators behind the popular Chinese site “B9GOOD” to justice.




The Japanese anti-piracy agency Content Overseas Distribution Association (CODA) announced on March 4, 2024, that the operators behind the Chinese anime piracy site B9GOOD were successfully prosecuted for copyright infringement. A total of 45,880 anime were illegally posted to the site, with NHK adding that the number of accesses over the last two years before it was shut down was over 300 million and 95% of the site’s access came from Japan.
