The Bengaluru police recently arrested six people for allegedly kidnapping an NRI. Announcing the arrests on Sunday, the police said the kidnappers assumed that the NRI had a lot of money.
The NRI from Australia was kidnapped on February 20, when he met a suspect near a private school in Bommanahalli to buy ganja.
A police officer said, “When the NRI went to meet a person to buy ganja, he was forcibly taken to a secluded area. He was subjected to physical assault and coerced into handing over additional money. Fearing for his safety, the NRI digitally transferred Rs 98,000. He then somehow contacted his brother who resides in JP Nagar….
